Trekmovie.com reports on an interview that Karl Urban (Dr McCoy in the new Star Trek movie) has given SFX magazine, in it Urban talks about the relationship between Kirk-Spock-McCoy and what he likes about McCoy saying:

"His sense of irascibility with real passion for life and doing the right thing. Spock’s logic and McCoy’s moral standing gave Kirk the benefit of having three brains instead of just one."
